SAN JOSE — The Sharks recalled five players from their AHL affiliate after multiple people in the organization, including coach Bob Boughner, tested positive for the coronavirus in advance of their game with the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday.
Two people with knowledge of the situation said there were five Sharks players who are in COVID-19 protocol. The names of the players were not immediately made available.
The Sharks recalled forwards John Leonard and Nick Merkley, and defensemen Nicolas Meloche, Ryan Merkley, and Jaycob Megna.
Sharks players receive a PCR test every three days. A Sharks spokesman said individuals were tested Friday and received the test results back Saturday morning.
