Sheriff’s Office searches for killer in Oroville

OROVILLE — The Butte County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man who is suspected of killing a person at an Oroville residence on Sunday, according to a Butte County Sheriff’s Office press release.

At around 10:10 a.m. Sunday there was a shooting at a residence located at the 1100 block of Feather Avenue in Oroville. The identification of the person killed won’t be released until next-of-kin is notified, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Detectives say they found evidence that gave them cause to believe an adult male allegedly committed the homicide. The man ran after the shooting and was last seen in the area of 14th Street in Oroville.

According to the press release, witnesses believe that the suspect is someone who frequently is in the Oroville area.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking for residents who may have caught the suspect on their home surveillance system to call detectives at 530-538-7671. Anyone with additional information about this investigation or the suspect can also contact the detectives.
