Warriors bring Thompson, Wiseman, Lee back to NBA team after Santa Cruz practices

Klay Thompson’s stint as a Santa Cruz Warrior lasted just three days.

The Warriors called Thompson back up to their NBA roster Wednesday along with James Wiseman and Damion Lee. Thompson and Wiseman had gone to the Santa Cruz roster Sunday to practice with the G League team while the NBA Warriors went on a road trip to play the Clippers and Suns.

Damion Lee missed the trip to LA and Phoenix days after his wife, Sydel Curry-Lee, gave birth to the couple’s first son, Daxon, on Friday. He was assigned to Santa Cruz Tuesday and practiced alongside Thompson and Wiseman there while the NBA club lost to the Suns Tuesday night in a battle between the Western Conference’s top two teams. Thompson made the winning shot in a Sea Dubs scrimmage Tuesday.

Thompson is reportedly working toward a return to game action later this month, while Wiseman’s timetable is less clear.

Wiseman had surgery on a torn meniscus in April while Thompson has missed the last two seasons with a torn left ACL and a torn right Achilles.

The rehabbing duo will likely stay with the NBA team throughout its four-game homestand, but when the Warriors hit the road again on Dec. 11 for a trip to the East Coast, it’s possible they’d go back to Santa Cruz to practice.

Golden State also assigned rookies Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody to Santa Cruz on Wednesday.
